Is bigger really better??

Something that I have noticed is that the people who say they don’t like using their crock pots are the people who own very large size crock pots. In our society today most people think that bigger is better but in crock pots that is  just not the case. I always recommend that people start with a 4 quart crock pot as this is the size that will be the best to cook daily with. You can find a 4 quart at places like Wal-Mart, Target, Bed Bath and Beyond or online.  I purchased mine at Target for $19 dollars! I am telling you it was the best $19 dollars I have ever spent and I know my husband would definitely agree! I would also highly recommend purchasing a 3 quart for your sides which you can find for about $10-25 dollars.  There are many different brands and sizes of crock pots and it can get very overwhelming so I am going to list out my favorites  as well as the link to purchase it. My absolute favorite brand of crock pots is the original Crock Pot brand. Visit the Crock Pot brand website. The first crock pot I ever purchased was a red manual 4 quart slow cooker.  I love this slow cooker and it is still my absolute favorite out of all of the other ones I have (and believe me I have way more than one person should ever have). The only problem with this slow cooker is that it is manual so you can’t set a timer on it. If you are a working woman and you leave the house in the morning and the food is ready in 6 hours than that is going to be a major problem! So I recommend buying a programmable 4 quart slow cooker which unfortunately the Slow Cooker brand does not offer. I bought my digital 4 quart slow cooker from Bed Bath and Beyond that I have and love.  The 4 quart digital slow cooker is by Cuisinart and it comes at a steep price of  $80 dollars but belive me it is SO worth it. When you come home from a long day of work and your dinner is all ready you will be so happy you spent the money. A digital slow cooker allows you to program the time you want the food to cook and when the time is done your food will sit on warm for several hours if needed. This is perfect for the working woman or on the weekends when you are out running errands all day. Here is my favorite manual 3 quart slow cooker  and my favorite digital 3 quart.  Happy Slow Cooking!

  1. It is!! I literally have enough food to feed an army in my fridge right. My husband is getting a little annoyed because our grocery bills are getting very high. I am making many receipes in one day!

    • My initial plan was to do one crock pot meal a day for a year. Then I saw that had already been done, mulitiple times. And there are only two of us, we can eat on one crock meal for two to three days. I only make about two meals a week in the crock pot because of this. So, I figured I’d just post one a week. But I do find it tempting to cook more when I’m posting. Is that not crazy or what? Eat your food! Those cookies looked TOO good. I’ll have to try those. I love cookies.

  2. You know the tutorials really helped me. They make it simple, but it is time consuming and frustrating trying to figure it out on your own. I hear ya on that one. If you get stuck, I’ll let you know what I did. Two heads are better than one.
I write a lot but getting published is such a rat race. With a blog, you can share what you want and you know someone will read it. I thought, if I have one more person say to me, “Why don’t you start a blog?” I knew a few other people who were blogging and they seemed to really like it. Thought I’d try it out. So far, so good!
Girl, you must cook up a storm. You’ve been churing out the posts. I bet your house is just full of food! 🙂

  3. Oh, gosh, only about a month. I’m brand new at this. I’m posting once a week. I’m having so much fun! My husband isn’t complaining as he stuffs his face! 🙂
I’m looking back on some of yours. How long have you been doing this?

    • I just started last week. Or maybe the week before that. I don’t remember but it was not long ago. It is very confusing at times but I think I am catching on. I want to change some design things but I am not sure how to do any of that so I am going to check into that. What made u decide to start blog?

  4. Little Debbie,
I totally agree with the 4 quart slow cooker being a better deal. I have a 4 quart and a larger one, and I use both of them constantly, but the large crock pots make huge meals and it does seem to overwhelm non crock-potters.
I don’t know much about gluten-free but I enjoy reading your blog, and you’ve taught me about Celiac disease. Thanks for expanding my cooking world!

    • Hi Jennifer. I am so happy to hear that you are enjoying my blog and expanding your knowledge. Celiac disease is something a lot of people don’t know much about, but I hope to change that. As you can see my recipes are not just for gluten intolerant people. How did you find my blog?
